NetSpeedCheck

Understanding your results

A plain-language guide to every number and how to improve your connection.

Download speed

How much data reaches you per second, in megabits (Mbps). It decides how fast pages load, videos stream and files download. 25 Mbps is enough for one 4K stream.

Upload speed

How fast you send data to the internet. Important for video calls, live streaming, file uploads and cloud backups.

Ping (latency)

The round-trip time for a tiny message to reach the server and come back, in milliseconds. Under 30 ms is great for gaming; above 100 ms feels sluggish.

Jitter

How stable your ping is. If ping varies a lot between samples, calls break up and games stutter even when the average is low.

Ping under load (bufferbloat)

A unique measure: ping while your connection runs at full capacity. A big increase means your router queues data too long — the reason games lag when someone else downloads.

Plan comparison

Pick your provider and plan and we tell you what percentage of the paid speed you actually get — with a link you can send to customer support as evidence.

How do I get an accurate result?

Use a cable instead of Wi-Fi, pause downloads and streams, and repeat the test at different times of day — then compare in your history.
